Gyeongju, Thousand years of theirs

  ‘Gyeongju, a millennium of theirs’ is a series that capture the cultural relics of Gyeongju.
  Most places here are not quite considered well-known, therefore, people are less likely to know, unless they make an all-out effort to try and search for it.
  City of Gyeongju has been preserving the flow of a long lasting historical time just as it is, through the splendid Unified era of Silla, Goryeo, Joseon, as well as the Japanese colonial period.
  The past is unknown, yet we can only imagine with what’s left behind.
  We are living in the same generation, within this historical space of Gyeongju, where perhaps the large geographical features may remain the same yet it is ever changing slowly without any big notice.
  Photographer perceives them as beings that remain and continue to prolong in same space for a thousand years, rather than just broken and abandoned temple sites.
  Photographer attempted to express the feeling of desolation and loneliness by capturing the stone pagodas of old temple sites as a long-term nature beings.
  Photographer deliberately chose a summer day full of greens to emphasize on the feeling of desolation and loneliness.
 In addition, by selecting the time of sunset, the surrounding terrain is only vaguely expressed, and with the presence of a strobe, the temple remains’ existence is quite accentuated.
